The Boston Celtics are down 2 games to 0 in the  NBA Eastern Conference Semi Finals to the Miami Heat.  Game 3 is tonight in Boston.  With aging players, fatigue and injuries, are the Boston Celtics capable of stopping 2 of the best offensive players in the game (Lebron James and Dwayne Wade)?

Boston has struggled late in the game for the first two games.  Not having Shaquille O’Neal has proved to be an issue because there is a lack of consistency in the center position.  The Boston “Big Three” has been out played in my mind by Rajon Rondo.  Rondo’s roll is a tough one this series.  The Miami Heat are focusing in on Rondo thinking that if they can handle Rondo, they can handle the rest of the Celtics.

The series is back in Boston for a few games and Miami has a chance to make things real difficult for the Celtics to get back in this series.  Many people picked the Celtics in 6 or 7 games to win this series.  Well, they are now back 2 games and will need to turn the ship around and find a way to win 4 games against the Miami Heat who are looking to move on to the next round as early as possible.

Also happening in Boston, the Boston Bruins have taken a 3-0 series lead against the Philadelphia Flyers… De Ja Vu?  I hope not!  Last time the Bruins lead the series vs Philadelphia 3-0 (last year), the Bruins were eliminated after loosing the next 4 games.  They now have 3 chances to win 1 more game against the Flyers.  Game 4 is in Boston…

Being a sports fan in Boston right now has it’s advantages…

Boston Red Sox making a strong comeback and establishing themselves after a miserable start.

Boston Celtics sweeping the New York Knicks and putting them in their place.

Boston Bruins winning 3 straight games against the Montreal Canadiens.

The playoff schedule has worked out really nicely… Bruins game one night, Celtics the next, Bruins, Celtics, Bruins, Celtics, etc.  But if you had to choose one to watch (not both), what would you choose?  People in Chicago are dealing with the same thing… Blackhawks or Bulls.

Right now, the consensus is that the NHL Playoffs have proved to be more exciting than the NBA playoffs in cities where there are teams in both championship hunts.  At this point, I would watch Bruins and Canadiens over any Celtics match and I would choose the Blackhawks over the Bulls and Pacers.

What are your thoughts?  I am sure the NBA race will get better after the first round is completed.  The NHL has much better parity if you ask me.

Boston Bruins Boston CelticsHey Boston fans… the Bruins and Celtics playoff tickets are on sale today!  If you’re able to get tickets today, congrats.  If not, Don’t be surprised.  Boston is in need of some exciting sports playoffs and right now, the Bruins are clicking and the Celtics are sliding.

The Bruins had a 3-0 shutout last night against the defending Stanley Cup Champions… Chicago Blackhawks.  Tim Thomas’ GAA is 1.96 and recorded his 9th shutout of the season.  The team seems to be clicking now and who would have thought that Marchand would have had a season like this?  Also in last night’s game, Mark Recchi had an assist which put him one point ahead of Paul Coffey.

On the other hand, the Boston Celtics built up a huge lead in the east this season and are now slowly sliding back.  The Celts lost to some lowly teams the past few weeks and are now in 3rd place in the east.  Chicago has first place and Miami is in 2nd (Miami lost to Cleveland last night).  With injuries and really old players, the Celtics best interest right now is to make sure they are healthy for the playoffs.
