The retiring country singer, George Strait, is finalizing his farewell tour and what better way to cap it off than to set a US concert attendance record! 104,793 fans packed the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas to bid farewell to George Strait. A record for the largest concert crowd at an indoor venue in the USA.
His “Cowboy Rides Away Tour” spanned 2 years and included several stadiums and other large venues. Fans were eager to see Strait play his final concert in their city. Not only did George Strait break the record, he shattered it. The previous record was the Rolling Stones at the Louisiana Superdome in 1981 (87,500). The new record is an impressive 17, 293 higher than the now 2nd place show.
At 10:40 PM, George Strait left the stage, one final time, to a seemingly never-ending standing ovation and deafening scream by the 100,000 plus in attendance. The concert was filled with super-star appearances by fellow country stars that joined Strait to pay tribute to a pioneer that helped put Country music where it is today. It was a very memorable night for the fans as well as George Strait himself. Guests included Kenny Chesney, Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Faith Hill and others.
