Boxing at Yankee Stadium?

It was recently announced that there will be a boxing match at Yankee Stadium in New York this June.  Miguel Cotto (34-2, 27 KOs) will be stepping up in weight to take on WBA light middleweight champion Yuri Foreman (28-0, 8 KOs) on June 5th.

Now the first thing that comes to my mind when I heard this is that I would rather see the Yankees and Red Sox put on some boxing gloves and have a team vs team brawl…  But then I remembered how many Yankees players are on juice and it would be an unfair fight.

The main event would have been a rematch between A-Rod and Varitek.

Anyway, the Cotto vs Foreman match is set to be on pay per view and there is going to be a large number of people packing the new Yankees Stadium for this match.  I really hope that it is an all-weather match that would be fought regardless of rain or shine.  The rain would make it more interesting to watch (from home) and give a new perspective of boxing.  Also, depending on the time of the match, the sun could also come into play.  The knockout punch could come just as you’re getting an eye full of sun over the stadium wall.

Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased using Front Row King where you can pick the seats you want, not just what is left over!  Miguel Cotto vs Yuri Foreman tickets

If I were to cast a vote, I am certain that most people would agree about seeing the Red Sox and Yankees box rather than Miguel Cotto and Yuri Foreman.
